Ⅰ. The Institute of Medical Technology Holds Collective Lesson Planning Meeting for Undergraduate Program

On the morning of August 20, 2021, the first collective lesson planning session for the undergraduate Medical Technology program was held in Room 205 of the Medical Center Conference Hall. The meeting was attended by Professor Han Hongbin, Executive Vice Dean of the Institute of Medical Research (IMR); Vice Dean Gao Song; Party Secretary Li Hui; instructors responsible for that semester’s courses; and all IMR faculty members.

In his opening remarks, Professor Han emphasized the significance of developing the Medical Technology discipline. He highlighted the importance of launching undergraduate education in this field at Peking University in response to national priorities. He noted that Medical Technology is one of the four core pillars of modern hospital development in China and plays a vital role in promoting independent innovation in high-end medical equipment. Cultivating top-tier professionals in this field is essential for realizing the goals of the Healthy China initiative and advancing the country’s scientific and technological progress. He also stressed that moral education and character development are fundamental responsibilities of universities. Regarding the collective lesson planning, he called for shared understanding and coordinated efforts to ensure high-quality teaching. He concluded by outlining basic teaching requirements and expressing appreciation, on behalf of the discipline and the IMR, for everyone’s participation and support.

During the session, Zhang Yibao introduced the enrollment details for the Class of 2021 and the four-year training program. A total of 46 students were admitted in the inaugural undergraduate cohort. He presented the students’ regional distribution and admission batch information and, following Dean Han’s guidance, provided an overview of the curriculum structure and course schedule. He also detailed the teaching assignments for the first academic year and the logical interconnection among courses throughout the program. Next, Huang Xinrui shared a model undergraduate teaching plan. Following that, Zhao Xiaotao, Liang Baosheng, Fang Xuan, Zhen Cheng, and Liu Huixue discussed their lesson planning, preparation, and course arrangements for Introduction to Medical Laboratory Technology, Advanced Mathematics, Human Anatomy, History of Medical Technology, and Basic Chemistry, respectively.

This collective planning session clarified the educational objectives and primary tasks for the first cohort of the undergraduate program in Medical Technology. Dean Han encouraged all faculty members to apply the meeting’s guiding principles based on the four elements of academic management, strengthen the development of core professional courses, and uphold teaching quality. He emphasized that collective lesson planning should foster collaboration among instructors to ensure the smooth and orderly delivery of courses in the new semester. The meeting played a constructive role in promoting the curriculum development of the Medical Technology program.
