At the invitation of Vice President Wang Hui of Xinxiang Medical University, Dean Han Hongbin of the Institute of Medical Technology, Peking University Health Science Center, and his delegation visited Xinxiang Medical University on December 7, 2024, to engage in discussions on the development of medical technology disciplines, the construction of graduate professional degrees, and organized research.

In the afternoon of the same day, Dean Han Hongbin delivered an academic lecture titled "Extracellular Space in the Brain: A New Direction for Neurological Regulation and Brain Disease Treatment" at the first-floor auditorium of the Boxue Building at Xinxiang Medical University. The lecture, covering research background, scientific developments, and detection technologies, presented complex scientific issues in an easily understandable manner. It highlighted the innovative shift in the research paradigm from the traditional "cell-vascular" model to the "cell-vascular-extracellular space in the brain" model. Additionally, Dean Han shared his experience in applying for major National Natural Science Foundation projects and explored the training model for high-end interdisciplinary talent in medical technology, which is based on major research projects. The lecture was comprehensive and logically clear. The session was chaired by Professor Wang Hui, Vice President of Xinxiang Medical University, with over 400 graduate students and faculty members from the university attending, including Professor Bai Jianbo, Party Secretary of the School of Medical Technology, Professors Yang Bo and Shi Ruling, Vice Presidents, and Zhang Yun, Director of the Graduate Office.

Discussion on the Development of Medical Technology Professional Degrees and Platform Visit

Subsequently, Dean Han Hongbin, along with Professors An Haoran and Liu Yinghui, participated in a discussion on the master's degree program curriculum for the medical technology specialty at Xinxiang Medical University. Vice President Wang Hui first provided an overview of Xinxiang Medical University. Secretary Bai Jianbo of the College of Medical Technology welcomed and thanked Dean Han and his team for their visit. Vice Dean Yang Bo introduced the history, party-building work, teaching, scientific research, discipline development, and talent cultivation efforts of the College of Medical Technology. During the meeting, the curriculum for the master's degree program in medical technology was thoroughly discussed. Attendees provided feedback and suggestions on various aspects, including institutional mechanisms, faculty development, discipline direction, and talent training methods.

Finally, Dean Han and his team visited the Medical Laboratory Platform, the Henan Provincial Key Laboratory of Immunology and Targeted Drugs, the College of Medical Engineering, and the Institute of Neuroscience and Psychiatry at Xinxiang Medical University. This visit helped establish a communication mechanism between Peking University Health Science Center and Xinxiang Medical University at the level of discipline development, playing a positive role in promoting the joint advancement of medical technology disciplines in China.
