Institute of Medical Technology welcomes new students to the class of 2022

On the occasion of the 110th anniversary of Peking University Medicine, Peking University School of Medicine welcomed 46 undergraduates and 37 postgraduates of Medical Technology Class 2022. Stepping on the first sunrise in early fall, they came to 38 College Road with knowledge and ideals to become a new generation of Peking University Medicine.

The Institute of Medical Technology, under the leadership of Dean Prof. Han Hongbin, Secretary Li Hui and Vice Dean Gao Song, organized the teachers of each office and some members of the medical technology graduate class to form a welcoming working group. The orientation started on August 28th.

On the 28th, as the day for the new undergraduates of the Medical Research Institute (MRI) class of 2022 to report, a total of 46 new undergraduates were welcomed to step into the campus and start the journey of pursuing their dreams. Ms. Liu Yinghui from the Teaching Office coordinated and managed the orientation work at the check-in point of the College, and student volunteers introduced the cafeteria, gymnasium, and other campus facilities to the new students, who were overflowing with the desire for a brand-new college life. Secretary Li Hui expressed his cordial greetings to the new students, carefully urged the new students to strictly abide by the epidemic prevention and control requirements, and do a good job of personal protection; and expect the offices to adhere to the people-oriented, to provide more thoughtful and meticulous service for the new students to help them integrate into the new study and life as soon as possible, the “wholeheartedly for the people” purpose! The purpose of “wholeheartedly serving the people” is implemented in every aspect of the orientation and future work, showing the advanced nature of party members and teachers, and carrying out the education of ideals and beliefs in a subtle way.

On the 29th, Mr. Li Hui, Secretary of the Joint Party Branch of Medical Technology, Mr. Li Hongfeng from the Research Office, Mr. Liu Yinghui and Mr. Tang Zeqing from the Teaching Office, and four students from the Graduate Class of 2021, namely, Mr. Long Bin, Mr. Xu Qiusi, Mr. Gao Zixiang, and Mr. Dong Zhenkun, were on site as volunteers to welcome students and assist the teachers of the Office in the new student check-in matters.

In the morning, Mr. Chen Baojian, Secretary of the Party Committee of the Medical Department of Peking University, and leaders of the Medical Department came to the School of Medical Research to welcome the arrival of the new students of Medical Technology in the class of 22. Secretary Chen put forward new expectations for the students, he pointed out that “medical technology as an emerging discipline has a very broad development prospect, I hope that the students can excel and achieve success in their studies, and become top talents in medical technology.”

On the 30th, the Institute of Medical Research organized an undergraduate orientation meeting, which was presided over by Mr. Li Hui, secretary of the Joint Party Branch of Medical Technology, with the participation of several teachers, including Prof. Han Hongbin, dean of the Institute of Medical Research, Prof. Gao Song, vice dean of the Institute of Medical Research, Prof. Zhao Xiaotao, deputy director of the Department of Medical Laboratory Sciences, and Mr. Lu Yanye, teacher of the Institute of Medical Research.The new students of the class of 2022 received a lecture from vice dean of the Institute of Medical Research, Mr. Gao Song, on the The new students of the class of 2022 formally opened the door of the medical hall in the report of Vice President Gao Song on the history and significance of the development of the discipline of medical technology at Peking University. During the meeting, Mr. Lu Yanye and Prof. Zhao Xiaotao introduced the two undergraduate majors of medical technology - medical imaging technology and medical testing technology, as well as the cultivation characteristics and development prospects of each of the two majors.

At the end of the meeting, President Han Hongbin made a concluding speech. He believed that students are young people of the new era, full of vitality; and medical technology, a new profession is full of opportunities and challenges, students will have great potential in the future medical path and life.

Afterwards, with the help of the teachers of the college, the class of 22 completed the entrance education and the election of class committee, and cooperated with the school to carry out the entrance physical examination, the opening ceremony of the new students, the first lesson of the first school year, and visited the school history museum.
