From March 21 to 24, 2022, the Institute of Medical Technology organized the Beijing Symposium on Cutting-Edge Disciplines in Smart Healthcare. More than 110 experts and scholars from Peking University, Tsinghua University, the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Southeast University, Shandong University, Capital Medical University, and Wenzhou Medical University attended the conference. Dr. Weimin Wang from the Institute of Quantum Electronics at Peking University, Prof. Jiakuo Yu, Director of the Institute of Sports Medicine at Peking University Third Hospital, Dr. Tianye Niu from Peking University Shenzhen Graduate School, Dr. Dong Huang from the Institute of Molecular Medicine at the Academy for Advanced Interdisciplinary Studies of Peking University, Dr. Jianwen Luo from the Department of Biomedical Engineering at Tsinghua University, Dr. Rui Hou from the Institute of Information Engineering at the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Haihua Xiao from the Key Laboratory of Polymer Physics and Chemistry at the Institute of Chemistry, Chinese Academy of Sciences, Dr. Li Deng from the School of Information and Communication Engineering at Beijing University of Posts and Telecommunications, Dr. Yang Chen from the School of Electronic Science and Engineering at Southeast University, Associate Dean Chunlin Li from the School of Biomedical Engineering at Capital Medical University, Prof. Zhiqian Tong from the Institute of Geriatrics at Wenzhou Medical University, and Dr. Jingjing Xu from the School of Microelectronics at Shandong University each delivered an excellent academic presentation.
During the symposium, Prof. Jiakuo Yu shared new perspectives on AI-assisted diagnosis of knee joint MRI and presented its real-world application via vehicle-mounted systems during the Winter Olympics. Associate Dean Chunlin Li discussed the current state of vehicle-mounted medical devices. Dr. Tianye Niu introduced solutions for next-generation vehicle-mounted CT systems. Dr. Rui Hou's team proposed a framework addressing data security and equipment miniaturization. Prof. Hongbin Han's team provided a comprehensive report on their research progress in digital human systems for specialized athlete populations. On behalf of Dr. Zhihong Li’s team, Dr. Dong Huang presented recent advances in flexible wearable monitoring systems. Dr. Haihua Xiao outlined strategies and recommendations for chemical intervention and drug development under special environmental conditions. Dr. Li Deng introduced key technologies in non-invasive in vivo electromagnetic focusing intervention. Prof. Zhiqian Tong presented the latest advances in photobiomodulation therapy for aerospace microgravity and Alzheimer's disease. Dr. Weimin Wang gave an overview of portable mobile magnetic resonance imaging technology. Dr. Jingjing Xu reported on recent developments in impedance imaging modeling and visualization. Dr. Jianwen Luo introduced portable vehicle-mounted ultrasound imaging, while Professors Qing Yuan and Zongsheng Xu presented on rapid acquisition technologies for human mathematical information.
In his concluding remarks at the symposium, Dr. Xiaocheng Bo extended his congratulations on the achievements of the Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Smart Medicine Engineering and Technology, led by Peking University. He also offered valuable suggestions for the future development of the discipline, encouraging interdisciplinary innovation teams to build upon their foundational work, take on greater responsibilities, and pursue breakthroughs in disruptive medical equipment technologies to contribute further to the nation. In his summary, Dean Hongbin Han emphasized the importance of leveraging the Beijing Advanced Innovation Discipline Initiative and the high-end medical equipment cluster at Peking University. He called on the team to remain committed to distinctive development, contribute to China’s high-level independent innovation in the new era, and cultivate leading talents.
