The Special Seminar on Major Projects in Brain Science and Medical Artificial Intelligence Held in Beijing

On January 18, 2025, the Special Symposium on Major Projects of Brain Science and Medical Artificial Intelligence and the Expanded Meeting of the Academic Committee of Beijing Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Equipment and Technology were successfully held at Peking University. The event was hosted by the Beijing Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Equipment and Technology, and jointly organized by the Institute of Medical Technology of Peking University Health Science Center, the School of Biomedical Engineering of Capital Medical University, and the Research and Development Center of Medical Technology of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University. Over 100 experts and key members of the laboratory from Beijing, Hebei, Liaoning, Inner Mongolia, Guangdong, and Shandong attended the meeting.

President Han Hongbin first delivered a welcoming speech on behalf of the key laboratory, extending a warm welcome to the members of the academic committee of the key laboratory and the attending experts and scholars. He also expressed gratitude to colleagues who have cared for and supported the construction of the laboratory and the "Double First-Class" discipline of Peking University's medical technology. While systematically reviewing the construction process and current situation of the "Double First-Class" discipline of Peking University's medical technology, he analyzed and arranged the future development and layout of the key laboratory's research team.

Teacher Ma Xinlei reported on the team's task arrangements in basic and theoretical research based on the major project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Teacher Gao Yajuan reported on the background of the team's clinical research tasks and the key construction contents over the past 25 years. Dr. Yang Chujiao introduced the organization of the academic conference in 2024 on behalf of the team and reported on the task arrangements for academic exchanges in 2025. Teacher Wang Rui introduced the progress and subsequent arrangements of the monograph "The Extracellular Space of the Brain" edited by Professor Han Hongbin.

The experts and scholars attending the meeting discussed the research plans and task arrangements of the team for 2025 based on the above report. Professor Xie Lide, the former deputy secretary of the Party Committee of Chengde Medical University, congratulated the team on its achievements in 2024 and suggested further clarification of the team's division of labor. Professor Li Hua, the dean of the Graduate School of Dalian Medical University, offered suggestions on the team's scientific research management and expressed expectations for more high-level outputs in the new year. Professor Yuan Yi from Yanshan University shared the cooperation and achievements with the team in the synchronous information collection of the three rooms. Vice President Feng Bo, Director of the Scientific Research Office Yan Mingyu, Director of the Discipline Construction Office of the Second Affiliated Hospital of Dalian Medical University Ge Yusong, Director of the Party and Government Office Zhang Ce, Director of the Ultrasound Department of Aerospace Center Hospital Liang Lei, and Director Yang Jing; Professor Jiang Ming from Peking University, Director Xie Sheng of the Radiology Department of China-Japan Friendship Hospital, Deputy Director Wang Wei of the Radiology Department of Beijing Rehabilitation Hospital, Dr. Ning Weihai from Sanbo Brain Hospital of Capital Medical University, and Teacher Tang Lifei from the Scientific Research Office of the Medical Department respectively made speeches and offered suggestions for the key laboratory and the brain science research team.

Finally, President Han Hongbin expressed sincere gratitude on behalf of the team to all the experts for their presence and suggestions. He wished everyone a happy Spring Festival and greater achievements in the new year. After the meeting, the participating units had in-depth exchanges on future scientific research cooperation with the Key Laboratory and Peking University Institute of Medical Technology in the fields of medical imaging, brain science and precise treatment of brain diseases.
