Academic Annual Meeting of Joint Co-construction of Beijing Key Laboratory by Institute of Medical Technology was Successfully Held

Beijing Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Equipment and Technology is a joint co-built unit of Institute of Medical Technology of Peking University. As the initiator of the construction of the medical technology discipline of Peking University, the laboratory has been undertaking the responsibility and mission of incubation, preparation, construction and joint construction of the medical technology discipline at different stages of history. 1999, Prof. Han Hongbin cooperated with Mr. Ka Weibo, the director of the Department of Physics of Peking Medical University, and built the Joint Laboratory of Medical Imaging of the Department of Medicine of Peking University, which became the predecessor of the Beijing Key Laboratory, relying on the discipline construction specialization in the period of 985-1. Laboratory, which became the predecessor of the Beijing Key Laboratory and sowed the seeds for the construction of the medical imaging technology discipline at Peking University. 2011-2017, the Key Laboratory teamed up with the School of Information and the School of Engineering of Peking University to build a graduate program in advanced medical technology, set up a team in the discipline of medical technology, and incubate the emerging disciplines. 2017, with the support of the leaders of Peking University and the Ministry of Medical Sciences , it became the first batch of construction units approved by the Ministry of Education for the first-level disciplinary doctoral program of medical technology; in 2018, the laboratory initiated the construction of the Medical Technology Research and Development Center of the Ministry of Medicine, and formally prepared for the construction of the Institute of Medical Technology; in 2019, the Institute of Medical Technology of the Ministry of Medicine of Peking University was formally established as the main construction unit to undertake the construction of the discipline of medical technology at Peking University, and the laboratory, as a joint co-construction unit , which continues to support the development and construction tasks of the medical technology discipline.

On December 23, 2022, the Academic Annual Meeting of Beijing Key Laboratory of Magnetic Resonance Imaging Equipment and Technology was successfully held in the Third Hospital of Peking University. Yan Liying, Director of Scientific Research Department, Li Haiyan, Deputy Director of Scientific Research Department, Cui Zeshi, Deputy Secretary General of China Medical Equipment Association, Li Hui, Secretary of Institute of Medical Technology, Peking University Medical School, Gao Song, Vice President, Wei Xunbin, Vice President, Prof. Ka Weibo, former Director of Medical Physics Teaching and Research Department, members of the Academic Committee of the Laboratory, Director of the Laboratory, Deputy Director of the Laboratory, all the members of the Laboratory, experts of the co-founding units and cooperation units, totaling more than 120 people participated in the meeting. The annual meeting was hosted by Cheng Fangchu, a postdoctoral fellow of the laboratory.

Prof. Han Hongbin, director of the laboratory, reviewed the achievements of the key laboratory in the past year and expressed his gratitude to the academic committee members, all members of the laboratory and the cooperative team for their hard work in the past year. Director Han said: “Since its establishment in 2011, all colleagues in the laboratory have always been unforgettable, bearing in mind the development goals and missions set at the early stage of construction, closely focusing on the construction of medical technology disciplines, serving the national strategy, building the Beijing Science and Technology Creation Center, cultivating high-end talents, strengthening the level of team building, and making layouts in the areas of aerospace, medical science, combating the new crowns, military medicine, and the national think-tank. All of them have been laid out and achieved excellent results. The team continues to top the international academic influence in the direction of brain cell outer gap. At the same time, the laboratory, as the initiator and organizer of Peking University's first-level doctoral program in medical technology, plays an important role in the establishment and development of the discipline, actively participates in and prepares for the construction of the Institute of Medical Technology (IMT), and initiates a joint co-construction with the IMT and its subordinate key laboratories under the State Pharmaceutical Administration (SDA).In 2022, medical technology, in conjunction with biomedical engineering, has successfully progressed to a double first-class disciplines, achieved four A+ grade disciplines in China's soft science rankings, and achieved an A in the fifth round of national discipline assessment. Director Han Hongbin also led the task of adjusting the catalog of medical technology disciplines arranged by the Ministry of Education, and completed the setting up of the doctoral degree of medical technology according to the needs of the country's development and construction in the new period.” He emphasized that the achievements in these directions could not be separated from the guidance and support of the members of the Academic Committee of the laboratory, and were also the result of the joint efforts of all the members, joint co-construction units and the team, and he also expressed a warm welcome to the outstanding talents and experts who joined the laboratory newly this year.

Yan Liying, the director of the key laboratory in his speech to the achievements of the laboratory, on behalf of the leadership of Peking University Third Hospital to the experts for a long time on the construction of the key laboratory of attention, guidance and help to express gratitude, Yan said: “Encouragement of the key laboratory in the development of the construction and the project research on the freedom to explore the development of the laboratory in the future hope that experts and colleagues to put forward valuable advice. valuable opinions, and also wish the laboratory can make more and more outstanding achievements in the new year.”

Afterwards, Office Director Lu Guanbin reported the work summary of 2022 on behalf of the laboratory, and Gao Yajuan and Wang Tianyu reported the preparatory work for the application of major special projects and innovation group projects in 2023 respectively. The application of innovative groups and major projects is the focus of the laboratory's work in 2023, and it is necessary to gather the strength of all members of the laboratory to continue to climb the peak of scientific research. In the discussion session, Prof. Edward Cui, Prof. Ming Jiang, Prof. Yanxing Jia, Dean Hailiang Li, Prof. Yanjiang Wang, Prof. Rui Hou, Prof. Jian Yang, Prof. Haihua Xiao, Prof. Zhiqiang Lin, Prof. Zhenren Xu, Prof. Huipo Liu, Prof. PengyuLv, Prof. Shengyong Xu, Prof. Junhao Yan, Dean Ailian Liu, Prof. Poying Lei, and Director Yu Fu made valuable suggestions for the development of the laboratory respectively.

Deputy Director Li Haiyan expressed his gratitude to the attending academic committee members and the new experts joining the team this year in the summary, affirmed the daily management of the key laboratory as well as its achievements, and hoped that the laboratory would, under the wave of the development of multidisciplinary integration, drive the scientific research with the impetus of disciplinary construction, bring together the talent team, keep pace with the times, reform and innovate, and create a brilliant future. Finally, Director Han deployed and arranged the key work in 2023 with the suggestions of academic members and experts.

The laboratory will join hands with Institute of Medical Technology, Key Laboratory of State Drug Administration and Magnetic Resonance Specialized Committee of China Medical Equipment Association to continuously optimize the team and the direction of the discipline, grasp the strategic opportunities, focus on the key points, and push forward the innovation and development of China's medical imaging equipment in an independent, self-reliant and self-supporting manner.
