Release date: July 18, 2024 Views:

On July 17, the "Forum on Frontier Development Directions of Medical Artificial Intelligence" hosted by the Health Data and Digital Medicine Branch of the China Healthcare International Exchange Promotion Association and the Institute of Medical Technology of Peking University Health Science Center was successfully held in Hangzhou. Professor Gu Ning, an academician of the Chinese Academy of Sciences and Nanjing University, and Professor Han Hongbin, a corresponding academician of the International Academy of Astronautics and the dean of the Institute of Medical Technology of Peking University Health Science Center, attended the forum and delivered speeches.

Academician Gu Ning reviewed the rapid development and important achievements in the field of TCM information technology since 2017, pointing out that TCM has an increasing influence at home and abroad, and its unique theoretical system has demonstrated excellent effectiveness in the whole health cycle management, including prevention, treatment, rehabilitation, and health preservation. Academician Gu further proposed prospects for the major directions of TCM research in the new era, emphasizing the importance of multidisciplinary cross-collaboration. Only through extensive academic exchanges and cooperation can a solid foundation be laid for the sustainable development and progress of the field of medical artificial intelligence.

Academician Gu Ning delivered a speech

Professor Han Hongbin warmly welcomed the arrival of all experts and scholars, and introduced the background and significance of this forum. He pointed out that the development of the field of TCM information requires reading and understanding TCM first, and then consolidating the field of TCM. Professor Han expressed the hope that all experts and scholars can further brainstorm and deepen and refine the development of the field of TCM through brief report introductions, and wished the conference a complete success.

Professor Han Hongbin delivered a welcome speech

Professor Zhuo Li from Beijing University of Technology, Associate Professor Qi Liping from Dalian University of Technology, Associate Professor Hong Yuankai from Peking University Health Science Center, and Professor Han Hongbin from Peking University Health Science Center were invited to attend the conference and gave research progress reports on multiple cutting-edge topics around the "Development of Medical Artificial Intelligence". The forum report was hosted by Professor Han Hongbin and Xu Xuefei, President of Suzhou Xiangcheng People's Hospital.

Experts and scholars give special reports

Professor Zhuo Li gave a report on the theme of "Chinese Medicine Knowledge Graph", introducing the basic concepts of Chinese Medicine Knowledge Graph, current problems, current research status at home and abroad, and future prospects from multiple dimensions; and taking spleen and stomach diseases as an application example, he introduced the top-level design and semantic standards of graph construction. Associate Professor Qi Liping shared the design and development progress of the Chinese Medicine Meridian Detector, saying that meridians and acupoints, as windows of Chinese medicine, have impedance characteristics and can be collected through bioimpedance spectroscopy; this method can be used to analyze the "virtual and real cold and hot" state of the 12 meridians of the human body, and introduce artificial intelligence models to analyze the collected signals. Associate Professor Hong Yuankai introduced "Portable Tissue Channel Measurement Technology" and discussed new methods of tissue channel imaging from multiple means such as sound, light, electricity, and magnetism. Professor Han Hongbin gave a report on the theme of "Information Collection and Processing of Meridians and Acupoints", deeply analyzing the essential differences between Chinese and Western medicine, and introducing in detail the current status of meridian research at home and abroad under research modes such as electricity, heat, acoustics, optics, magnetism, and fluid transmission; at the same time, he looked forward to non-invasive detection methods to reveal the unknown space of the brain, in order to obtain richer indicators and information.

Experts and scholars heatedly discussed

After the special report, academician Gu Ning, Professor Han Hongbin, Professor Xie Lide and many other experts and scholars participated in the special seminar on "TCM Informatics-Meridian and Acupoints", and conducted in-depth discussions on the development trends, technical challenges and future directions of medical artificial intelligence. Academician Gu Ning pointed out that we must first read and understand traditional Chinese medicine in order to better integrate informatics methods such as deep learning and artificial intelligence with traditional Chinese medicine. Professor Xie Lide mentioned that my country's continuous traditional Chinese medicine culture should be firm in its confidence in traditional Chinese medicine culture and traditional Chinese medicine diagnosis, and also proposed that Chengde Medical College has a deep accumulation in traditional Chinese medicine research. Professor Liu Yuanan proposed to explore and grasp the roots and sources of traditional Chinese medicine by establishing a basic model between traditional Chinese medicine and electromagnetic parameters, so as to develop traditional Chinese medicine research in a more scientific and standardized way. Dean Xu Xuefei discussed the commonalities and respective drawbacks of traditional Chinese and Western medicine from the perspective of Western medicine, and proposed that traditional Chinese and Western medicine should be more combined, integrating Western medicine methods and traditional Chinese medicine theories to overcome diseases such as tumors. Professor Li Lihua pointed out that the multi-level interpretability of artificial intelligence should be integrated into the research of traditional Chinese and Western medicine. Professor Chen Xun further proposed that the practical applicability, user usability and generalization of meridian detectors need to solve the problem of personalization, combine the research of the whole human body with a wide field of view and high precision, and move towards the development trend of signal fusion and connection such as image signals and time signals. Professor Liu Baolin proposed the source of human energy conversion, the operation and regulation mechanism of basic human information, and the high-precision coordination of human brain information. Professor Zhang Zhidong pointed out that the pulse comes from the meridians, and the various information contained in pulse diagnosis is the embodiment of the magic of traditional Chinese medicine and the need for further precise research. Professor Lei Boying proposed the exploration of the correlation between functional magnetic resonance imaging and artificial intelligence, meridian detection, and natural small molecules.

After the heated discussion, Professor Han Hongbin thanked all the guests for their active participation and summarized the meeting. He said that this "Frontier Development Forum of Medical Artificial Intelligence" has achieved fruitful results. The wonderful reports and in-depth discussions of the experts at the meeting have provided new ideas and directions for the research and application of medical artificial intelligence. He expressed the hope that through this forum, the cooperation between domestic and foreign academic and industrial circles can be further strengthened to jointly promote the innovation and development of medical artificial intelligence technology.

The successful holding of the "Frontier Development Forum of Medical Artificial Intelligence" has played a positive role in promoting the development and application of medical artificial intelligence technology. We look forward to holding more similar academic exchange activities in the future to deeply explore the essence of traditional Chinese medicine, explore the direction and focus of traditional Chinese medicine research in the new era, and jointly promote medical artificial intelligence technology to a new height.
