Breakthroughs in new medical imaging technology, exploring new methods for diagnosis and treatment of brain diseases. Popularization of science and technology (hereinafter referred to as popularization of science and technology) is an activity of the state and the society to popularize scientific and technological knowledge, promote the spirit of science, disseminate scientific ideas, and advocate scientific methods, and it is an important foundational work for the realization of innovation and development. As a double first-class discipline of Beihang University, since 2019, when it undertook the construction of the first-level disciplinary doctoral point of the Ministry of Education, our institute has always attached great importance to the popularization of science and technology, actively implemented the strategy of developing the country through science and education and the strategy of sustainable development, and specifically deployed to promote the popularization of science and technology in the direction of leading science and technology in the forefront of the international, improve the quality of science and culture of the citizens, and actively promote the development of the economy and the advancement of the society. Recently, in order to respond to the requirements of the Party and the State on the popularization of science and technology in colleges and universities and the urgent needs of the people, the latest scientific research results related to the extracellular space of brain cells in the field of brain science of the Academy were broadcasted on the program “Popular Science in China-30 Minutes to Change the World” of the Science and Education Channel of Beijing Broadcasting Television Station. The exploration of the extracellular space fills the structural gap that has always existed in the field of brain science, and brings new hope for the treatment of stroke, Alzheimer's disease and other stubborn diseases.

As the specialty research direction of our institute, the brain extracellular space has been in the international leading position for a long time. The Science and Education Channel of Beijing Radio and Television Station has continuously tracked the latest progress of our hospital in this field, and this is the third special interview after the August 2022 report. In addition, Beijing Radio and Television Youth Channel's “Learning Without Distinction” Season 2's “I Want to be a Doctor” program had invited President Han Hongbin to do a popular science interview on medical disciplines in 2019. Beijing Radio and Television and CCTV are important channels for the popularization and dissemination of our scientific and technological innovations. In the opening session of the program, Dean Han Hongbin first introduced the current situation of brain disease treatment, and then popularized the existence of the extracellular gap in the brain. In his speech, Dr. Han systematically talked about his own journey from the accidental discovery of extracellular space to the multidisciplinary cross-tackling and overcoming difficulties, and finally successfully solved the problem of detecting the extracellular space in the brain. On this basis, Dr. Han introduced the significance of extracellular space research to the treatment of brain diseases from the perspectives of new drug delivery methods and active regulation strategies. At the end of his speech, Dr. Han said that he will continue to work hard in this direction and contribute to the early victory of human beings over brain diseases.

It is reported that “Popular Science in China - 30 Minutes to Change the World” is the first domestic scientists' speech program jointly created by the Popular Science Department of the China Association for Science and Technology and Beijing Radio and Television Station in 2021, which is broadcast in the prime time slot at 19:30 on every Sunday, and the program has been highly praised by the public and the ratings have been at the forefront of the science programs on the Documentary Science and Education Channel. At present, the program has invited 11 academicians and more than 70 famous scientists, including Sun Baoguo of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Jin Yong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Fan Daiming of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, SuDonglin of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, XieYuhong of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Wang Hao of the Chinese Academy of Engineering, Gao Fu of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Wang Zhonglin of the Chinese Academy of Sciences, Prof. Dai Wei of the University of Chemical Technology in Beijing, and Xie Jun, chief chief engineer of the BeiDou navigation satellites.
