Dr. Junjie Wang is a Chief Physician, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Postdoctoral Cooperative Supervisor. He serves as the Director of the Department of Tumor Radiotherapy at Peking University Third Hospital, Director of the Brachytherapy Center at Peking University Health Science Center, and Chairman of the Radiation Oncology Society of the Chinese Medical Association.
In 2001, Dr. Wang introduced interstitial brachytherapy with radioactive seeds into China. In 2002, he introduced CT-guided technology into seed therapy and pioneered treatments for various recurrent and metastatic cancers in the head and neck, chest, abdomen, pelvis, spine, and other areas, thereby innovatively advancing the scope of seed therapy. In 2014, his research on seed therapy for recurrent rectal cancer was included in the NCCN Guidelines of the United States. In 2015, by integrating 3D printing and laser navigation technologies, Dr. Wang enhanced the precision of radioactive seed implantation, transforming it into a standardized and scalable technique.
He has received research funding from the National Natural Science Foundation of China, the Major Special Project of the Capital, the Capital Development Fund, the Doctoral Program Foundation of the Ministry of Education, and the Major Special Project of the National Natural Science Foundation of China. Dr. Wang has trained more than 30 postgraduate students and served as chief editor of 10 academic works. He has been awarded the Second Prize for Scientific and Technological Innovation by the Ministry of Education and the Third Prize of the Huaxia Medical Science Award.
