Dr. Hong Qi is a Professor, Chief Physician, and Doctoral Supervisor in the Department of Ophthalmology at Peking University Third Hospital. She is a Principal Investigator (PI) of the Beijing Key Laboratory for Reconstruction, Protection and Rehabilitation of Ocular Nerve Injury, and a member of the Academic Committee of the Institute of Medical Technology at Peking University Health Science Center.
Dr. Qi obtained her Doctor of Ophthalmology degree from Beijing Medical University in 1999. She conducted overseas academic training at Baylor College of Medicine in the United States (2007-2008) and at the Massachusetts Eye and Ear Infirmary, Harvard Medical School (2013-2014).
Dr. Qi has long been engaged in clinical and scientific research on ocular surface immunity, neural regulation, and precise refractive lens surgery. Her primary research interests include the pathogenesis, diagnosis, and treatment of dry eye, artificial intelligence-based ocular imaging, and studies on visual quality in precision correction for high myopia and presbyopia.
She has presided over four general projects of the National Natural Science Foundation of China and two provincial or ministerial-level grants. Dr. Qi has published over 70 papers in leading peer-reviewed journals, including The New England Journal of Medicine (NEJM), Ocular Surface, IEEE Transactions on Medical Imaging, and American Journal of Ophthalmology.
She holds three invention patents and two utility model patents, and has served as editor or contributing author for nine book and textbook series.
