Dr. Kai Wang is a Chief Physician, Professor, Doctoral Supervisor, and Doctor of Ophthalmology at the Optometry and Ophthalmology Center of Peking University People's Hospital.

He serves as the Assistant to the Dean of the School of Optometry and Ophthalmology at Peking University Health Science Center. He was a postdoctoral fellow and visiting scholar at the School of Optometry, University of California, Berkeley. Dr. Wang is also a member of the Science Popularization Group of the Behavioral Medicine Branch of the Chinese Medical Association; Deputy Chairman of the Youth Committee of the Visual Health Branch of the China International Exchange and Promotion Association for Medical and Healthcare; Deputy Chairman of the Optometry and Ophthalmology Professional Committee of the Beijing Medical Doctor Association; Vice President of the Beijing Optometry and Ophthalmology Society; a member of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Medical Device Management Committee of the Chinese Medical Education Association; a member of the Sub-committee for the Teaching of Optometry and Ophthalmology of Higher Education Institutions under the Ministry of Education; a member of the Youth Committee of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Beijing Medical Association; and a member of the Ophthalmology Branch of the Medical Doctors Association of the Western Returned Scholars Association.

Dr. Wang has long been engaged in basic and clinical work in optometry, with a particular focus on the prevention and control of adolescent myopia. He is proficient in orthokeratology lens fitting, myopia laser surgery, intraocular lens (ICL) implantation for high myopia, cataract surgery, and the management of complex cases such as keratoconus. He has served multiple times as the Director of the Medical Affairs Department for the China Health Express Cataract Poverty Alleviation Project and has performed over ten thousand cataract and refractive surgeries of various types.

He has undertaken one application research project with capital clinical characteristics funded by the Beijing Municipal Science and Technology Commission and one general project from the National Natural Science Foundation of China. As first author or corresponding author, Dr. Wang has published dozens of papers in SCI-indexed and core domestic journals. As the first inventor, he has been granted four national invention patents and five utility model patents.

He is also a guest host of the television program I Am a Doctor on Beijing Satellite TV.
