Haoran An is an Assistant Professor/Associate Researcher and the Doctoral Supervisor at the Institute of Medical Technology, Peking University Health Science Center. His research focuses on the pathogenic mechanisms of bacterial infectious diseases and medical laboratory sciences. He has published 20+ academic papers in  Journal of Experimental Medicine ,  Science Translational Medicine ,  PLoS Pathogens ,  Immunity , and  Molecular & Cellular Proteomics . He also co-authored 2 international microbiology textbooks and applied/authorized 4 patents. He is the PI of one National Key R&D Program subproject and the Key participant in one NSFC Major International Cooperation Project and one NSFC Key Project.

Research Directions:

Infectious diseases remain critical medical challenges to global health. Our research group integrates fundamental principles of microbiology and immunology with advanced methodologies, including clinical biospecimen analysis, animal models, intravital microscopy, and high-throughput screening, to investigate the pathogenic mechanisms and accelerate translational breakthroughs in priority infectious diseases. Three principal research interests are:

1. Pathogenic mechanisms and diagnostic techniques for acute bacterial infections;

2. Host immune responses and diagnostic biomarkers in infectious diseases;

3. Novel immunotherapeutic strategies for critical bacterial infections.
