Zhaoheng Xie is an Assistant Professor and Doctoral Supervisor at the Institute of Medical Technology, Peking University Health Science Center. He earned his Bachelor's degree from Xi'an Jiaotong University and Ph.D. from Peking University, followed by postdoctoral research at UC Davis.
His research focuses on development and clinical translation of molecular medical imaging devices, particularly: numerical simulation and system optimization for PET/CT and PET/MRI, physical correction algorithms and advance image reconstruction, pharmacokinetic modeling and parametric imaging, and AI-assisted medical imaging diagnostic systems.
As a lead researcher during doctoral and postdoctoral training, Dr. Xie spearheaded groundbreaking projects, including the four-modality small animal molecular imaging system, the EXPLORER (the world's first Total-body PET system), and the NeuroEXPLORE brain PET system for the US NIH BRAIN Initiative.
He has published 17 SCI papers in Medical Physics , Physics in Medicine & Biology , PNAS , Journal of Nuclear Medicine , 10 conference papers at international symposia, and 8 authorized patents (including 2 US patents). He has won many honors, such as the SNMMI Outstanding Young Scientist Award and the Henry N. Wagner Best Paper Award (co-author). His research was featured in Science (AAAS), Nature News , and NIH.
