Luxia Zhang is a Professor, Chief Physician, and the Assistant Dean of the National Institute of Health Data Science at Peking University.

Research Direction: Application of healthcare big data in prevention and control of major diseases.

Luxia Zhang was the first to report on the prevalence of chronic kidney disease (CKD) in China internationally, revealing opportunities for early intervention. Her research findings were published in  Lancet  and cited in multiple domestic and international clinical guidelines as well as the textbook  Internal Medicine . Starting in 2014, she pioneered the application of big data in the field of kidney diseases in China, elucidating changes in the disease spectrum of CKD. Her work was published in  N Engl J Med . In 2017, 2019 and 2020, she published three editions of the "Annual Scientific Report on Chinese Kidney Disease" in top renal journals  Am J Kidney Dis  and  Kidney Int , along with corresponding Chinese-language books. The CKD prevention and control model she developed has been applied in 25 primary healthcare institutions. She was invited to write a review article titled "Big Data and Clinical Research in China" for  Br Med J  and served as the lead editor for the monograph  Management and Application of Health Care Big Data . As an associate editor, she participated in founding the international journal  Health Data Science . During the COVID-19 pandemic, she led her team to complete the automated integration and analysis of data from designated hospitals, providing crucial support for epidemic control decisions.
